Who We Are
Boston Terrier Club of Maryand's Rescue is a not for profit organization dedicated to rescuing Boston Terriers who are abandoned or neglected and placing them in permanent, loving, responsible homes. We also accept dogs from private individuals who, for whatever reason, must relinquish their Boston Terrier(s).
Our ultimate purpose is to match homeless or potentially homeless Boston Terriers with loving permanent families, specifically interested in the breed. We do this by providing temporary foster care, necessary and reasonable medical treatment, personality assessments of the animals, and interviews and homechecks of potential adopters. All dogs receive a medical examination and reasonable treatment before being placed into adoptive homes. Pre-placement medical care includes all vaccinations, heartworm and fecal testing and spay or neuter. We operate throughout Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland.
In Need of Foster Homes / Volunteers
We are in need of foster homes, people to help get Bostons out of shelters, transporters, and donations. Volunteers will need to join our club ($20 annual dues) due to insurance purposes. If you are interested, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also ask the foster volunteers to fill out our foster form so we have somewhat of an idea of what you're looking for and expect. Once completed, please e-mail the application back to email@example.com. Application is in Microsoft Word format. If you do not have access to Microsoft Word, please e-mail the webmaster and it will be sent to you in snail mail or fax.
Once your application has been received, the rescue coordinator will contact you and talk with you about your expectation and availaibility, etc.
Surrendering Your Boston Terrier
If you are thinking about rescuing a boston, please fill out the adoption application. When we receive your application, you'll be placed on our waiting list. Often times, we will first look at our waiting list before posting on the web. So you may not see anything listed on our website, but it doesn't mean we don't have any rescued bostons.
Our vets do a comprehensive wellness examination including heart worm testing to assure that they are healthy before being listed. All animals are spayed/neutered, and up to date on shots before leaving BTCMD Rescue.
Adoption fee is $275.
Although Boston Terrier Club of Maryland Rescue Committee accepts all ages of boston terriers, we rarely receive puppies as a surrender.
Everyone knows puppies are cute and cuddly. Do you know what it takes to get the puppy housetrained? Are you willing to wake up at 3am to let your puppy out? Do you have a favorite pair of shoes? You better hide them because the puppy may be teething! Have you done your research?
Why not adopt a younger or middle aged boston terriers instead? Majority of our rescues will already be housetrained and crate trained.
If you are looking for puppies, please contact Vicki Wilt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
