We are always happy when our rescued
boston finds the forever home. If you adopted a
boston from Boston Terrier Club of Maryland's Rescue in the past,
please drop us a note!
We would love to put your boston's picture in the Happy
Endings!!!!!!
Zippy

 |
We'd like to thank the Boston Terrier Club of
Maryland for our successful adoption of our Zippy (formerly
Bogie). We adopted Zippy at the beginning of March 2008 after
doing a lot of research and deciding that a BT was the perfect breed
for us. Not only did we find the perfect breed, but we were
matched with the perfect dog. We knew the moment we saw Zippy
that he was meant for us.
It's only been 5 months now, but Zippy feels like he's been with us
from the beginning. He is settled in and now knows this is his
forever home (we are his fourth home). Not a day goes by that
Zippy doesn't enlighten our day.
So far, Zippy has learned to sit, lay down, roll over......and lastly,
shake. He's so smart and really keeps us on our toes, but touches
our hearts so much. We are now even thinking about adopting
another one if the right one comes along. If it is meant to
be....it will happen.
Thanks again for another success!
Brad B., Brad L. and Zippy with a Z!

Chance & Squeaker

|
I wanted to
give Boston Terrier Club of Maryland a happy update on both Chance and Squeak
(former name Annie). Chance came into our lives over a year ago. He adjusted so
well and is SUCH a smart boy. He’s learned a number of tricks quickly and is
always willing to love and please.
Chance use to
have a sister and I really wanted him to have one again. When we saw Squeak
(Annie) on the website I called right away about her. Chance and Squeak clicked
instantly and have been best friends ever since.
Chance is
very patient with our little energy ball, Squeak, and never gets upset when she
bites his ankles or sits on him because she wants his attention. He often lets
her “win” the ball and plays such a kind “older brother” roll.
Squeak is my
little light and always is making us smile. Even early in the morning, when I’m
not quite awake, she’s so happy to just be up with me that she’s doing circle
and bouncing all over the place. It’s the perfect way to start my morning. Of
course they go out and then run right back upstairs to jump into bed with
“Daddy” while “Mom” gets ready for work – no fair!
I want to
thank Mary and the Boston Terrier Club of Maryland for all that you have done
for us. We just LOVE both our children and they are truly adored in our house.
They are the little lights of our lives.
Sincerely,
Charla,
David, Chance & Squeak H.

Cricket
|
It is amazing how quickly Cricket settled in and made this his home. He
seemed very relaxed almost immediately. Even our old cat, who I thought would
probably hide under the bed for about four months, gets along fine with
him.
He does tend to follow Karen around everywhere she goes. He loves to go
outside, but looks up frequently to see if Karen is out there too. If she
sneaks back into the house, he wants to come back in as soon as he discovers she
went back in. Karen takes him on about a 1 1/2 mile walk each day on a leash,
and sometimes twice a day (our road just goes in 3/4 mile and dead ends, and
they walk to the end and back). Karen has gone into town a couple of times for
about an hour and left Cricket in the garage with Buster. They did fine.
He's obviously more attached to Karen, but he likes me too. Of
course, I've been gone a lot of the time he has been here. He
thinks of me as the guy who plays fetch with all the toys Karen has bought, and
the guy who hands out dog biscuits. We put the large
cage in our bedroom and he willingly goes in every night to sleep. He is
maintaining his same weight, and seems otherwise healthy. His muscles seem to
be firming up and he is shaking less. He barks and runs to the door whenever
anyone comes to the house, but is immediately friendly when they come in.
Thanks for checking in. We're enjoying him
immensely.

Ivy Rose
|
Well
it's hard to believe that it was three years ago today that Ivy Rose
came to live with me. Time passes so quickly. We
have had highs (agility success and her career as a supermodel) and
lows (almost losing her to bee sting allergy) and everything in
between. She can be sweet as sugar and turn right around and
be bad to the bone. She is a study in contradictions.
She is nothing like my three Boston boys. Ivy is so
much like my Jack Russells. That's why I often describe her
as "my Jack Russell wearing a tuxedo". The absolute best
quality that Ivy possess is non-aggressive. She loves other
dogs and has great fun playing with all her furry friends.
Now if she could just learn to walk on a leash - she would be close to
perfect.
I've attached a picture that was taken the day I got Ivy.
Enjoy and thanks for everyones help with my work in progress.

We adopted Oscar from Mary about 2 years
ago. He is doing wonderfully - we're so
happy to have him :)
My husband decided this year that Oscar would be his inspiration for
carving his pumpkin and attached is the
result. I thought you'd enjoy seeing the
Oscar pumpkin!
Thanks again,

Millie
|
UPDATE:
One year ago today, Mary from the Boston Terrier rescue brought a super cute
& skinny little Boston terrier with really big ears to our house to meet us.
She was shy, scared and not very trustful of anyone due to her awful abusive
owners that treated her horribly.
The months have past and she is a happy,
socialized, agility & obedience trained Boston with a perfect figure and
still really big ears! She is the sweetest, funniest little thing ever! I just
love her so much. : )
So, before you all think I have gone completely
nutty, this will confirm it…. I brought in to work today cookies that I
decorated with bones, hearts, and dog themes for the special occasion! Everyone
at work is enjoying the special day too!

My husband
and I adopted Lexi from Boston Terrier Rescue on June 20, 2006.
She was very shy, nervous and fearful for the first few weeks
but each day she became to trust us more and more. She has
been with us for 4 months now and doing phenomenal. We also gave her a
new name- Millie
She is now in Level 2 in her obedience training at All About Dogs in
Woodbridge and has just completed her 3rd week of agility training at
Woofs Dog Training in Arlington. She is very smart, quick to
learn and super cute. She enjoys playing with other dogs, tug-o-war,
snoring, napping with her feline brother and going on long jogs. She is
quite the athlete.
Millie brings immense joy to our lives. Every time I look at
her she brings a smile to my face. Every little part of her body and
how she moves is so comical and cute! We are so grateful to Mary Hovey
for her BT rescue efforts…we love Millie so much.

Mikey
|
What can we say
about Mikey?!
Mikey is doing very
well! He is wicked smart: he has quickly
learned “sit”, “down”, and
“wait” and we’re working on
“sit-stay/down-stay”. He
always politely sits to be fed and before coming in from outside. We
have him
sit before he is petted and fussed over and before he can come up into
our
laps. He has become my husband’s buddy and snuggles up to him
at night (under
the covers of course).

Timmy

A
Tribute toTimmy
He
came to us to
replace our "Timmy" whom by cancer was our loss.
To
live with
Timmy’s sister "Peaches", who for certain was the boss.
His
temperament was
perfect, while their adaptation took some time.
But
gradually he grew
to know that his new home was just fine.
We
know not what he
suffered, before he came our way.
He
had no way to tell
us, how his life was good or not each day.
His
life has become a
happy time; we enjoy him more and more.
He’s
truly a
family member, and one that we much adore.
We
affectionately call
him "Timmer", a Boston for which we’re proud.
He’s
beautiful to look at, enjoys his meals, and occasionally barks out loud.
He
lives and plays
with Peaches, and our affections he does touch.
We
wouldn’t
trade him for the world. We love him very much.
We lost
our first Timmy to cancer at around nine years old. For three months we
grieved over his loss. Our house became more silent. His sister Peaches
became very lethargic which was not like her usual self. She seemed to
grieve with us by appearing very lonely, and sad. We believe that she
actually did miss him, and indicated it by being more sedentary and
showing a lack of interest in just about everything. Three months after
the loss of Timmy we began a web search for another Boston to help perk
up Peaches, as well as ourselves. Our search led us into one rescue web
site where it showed a number of Boston’s. Many of them had
pictures. But one description actually shocked us both. There was no
picture, but the name Timmy appearing at this time was the shock that
was like a wake up call. It was as if a message was being sent to us
that this dog was there waiting to be ours. We immediately, and very
excitedly, inquired about this Boston. It was as if we knew that this
dog was destined to be ours. There was a minor early setback in that we
learned he was already being spoken for. But, long story short, we went
through the preliminary interview, and circumstances (and maybe a
little providence) were such that we did become the selected family to
have Timmy. Timmy’s life in our family was the "pill" that
cured Peaches too. Originally, very territorial, she was boss. Only a
short time passed, and Timmy’s wonderful demeanor got to her
as it did to us also. We think she fell in love with him. We have been
in contact with Kathleen M. Farrell several times by e-mail since our
addition to the family, and probably have more than bored her with all
the many praises we have thrust upon her as to how great this little
Boston Timmy really is. It was like a marriage made in heaven. He has
been so good that it is almost unbelievable. His adjustment was so
good. It was as if he lived with us all his life. He loves people, he
loves children, he loves his food, he loves his toys, and he is well
behaved - most of the time. We say that only because he becomes so
elated when he meets someone he knows, but hasn’t seen
recently. He is so excited that he does not realize his strength when
he re-greets our friends. Never the less, he is a jewel. He is also
still a puppy at heart. He has personality plus. We are enclosing a
couple of pictures of him, this little wonderful personality, and that
we hope you will enjoy seeing him. He brings joy to all of us
– every day, and every hour. We just cannot help but love
him.

Celie
|
We adopted Celie (formerly Sable) from
Kathy Farrell on February 11th, 2006, exactly one month after our
14-year-old Boston Terrier, Maggie, passed away. We weren't sure we
were ready, but Celie has been a wonderful addition to our family. She
is always ready to play or walk
or snuggle and is the happiest dog. In addition to her busy life in a
two-cat household, she has her own blog, Frito Toes
(http://fritotoes.blogspot.com),
in which she details her daily adventures. |

Tyler

|
We adopted Tyler with the help
of Mary Hovey in June 2005. Tyler has brought such
joy to our lives, we couldn't imagine a day without
him. He has the best personality and can't get enough of
playing with his toys. He loves to crawl right into our laps
at the end of the day and snores like the best of them. His
favorite thing to do when I get home from work is
to take a running start at me, do a forward roll,
and end up on his back - the perfect position for a
belly rub. He loves to sleep with his Dad in the
morning after I leave for work - he crawls right under the
covers and snuggles up tight until it is time to get up.
Tyler is the greatest little
BT and we love him dearly! Thanks BTCMD and Mary H
for bringing him into our lives!!

Jenny

|
We're so happy to keep up with The Boston
Terrier Club of Maryland
through your new web site. Mary Hovey is an angel.
She not only
brought our special Jenny into our lives, but has kept up with us, and
looked after her at times for us. What a blessing she is to
us, and
Bostons everywhere!
Through Mary's assistance, we adopted Jenny on August 31, 2003.
She is a dream come true! One could not ask for a
more
special dog.
Her love knows no bounds! She comes to work with me
every
day, and we
now have an entire faction of customers who come in just to see her!
She could not possibly show us more love...she is always
right
beside us, on the sofa, in the bed, under the covers, taking long
walks, long drives, flying to California...she does it all.
Now 10 years old, she is getting grayer, but is just as spunky, active,
playful, and wacky as ever. She is magic, and we could not
possibly love her more, or be more grateful to have her in our lives.
Thank you Mary, and BTCMD Rescue!

Mickey

|
Mickey was adopted with the assistance of
Mary Hovey this past May. He is a sweet boy who apparently
spent his first 5 or so years with an elderly owner.
When his original owner moved to an elderly care facility
Mick couldn't come along and so he bounced between the homes of the
elderly lady's adult sons. Neither of the sons were able to
provide the kind of environment Mick needed, and so we took him into
foster care and adopted him shortly thereafter. He is a
really great dog, who loves to cuddle under blankets and next to us.
He adores going on long walks and is a real gentlemen when we
are stopped on the street. He is the strong silent type and
gives soft kisses and really loves to be hugged and brushed.

Oscar

|
Update...
Since he's been in his forever
home, Oscar earned his CGC and his Therapy Dog certification.
He has been to the hospital for visits with the patients and
got rave reviews. Now he is adding agility classes to his
busy schedule. Maryann and Pete have done a wonderful job
with Oscar and he is a very lucky Boston to have such a great home.
(4/19/06)
*********************
Just a note to let everyone know that Oscar
was placed in his forever home on July 31, 2005. Oscar came
into rescue in January from the Talbot County Pound. He came
to stay with me in early February. Some of you will remember
seeing him at the monthly meetings. He was the mostly white
faced tall boy. He also was in the Parade of Rescue with Ivy
Rose at our specialty.
Oscar has been placed with the Vandenberg
family in New Jersey. This is a performance home with three
female Bostons and an elderly Cairn terrier. He has settled
in very well. And his new mom, Maryann says it's like he has
always been there. Oscar will start obedience class the end
of August. the first goal for him is to get his CGC, then he
may start doing agility. for everyone who helps to support
rescue - Oscar says "Thank YOU for my forever home."

Nell

|
Nell came into rescue in June 05.
She was my first foster, but after spending two weeks with her... I
fell in love! I had to have her. She is now the
princess of the house and she pretty much gets to do anything she
wants. Nell spends her day on the couch, hanging out, and
chewing on her favorite plastic bottle.
In Junne 2006, Nell earned her Rally Novice title! She is now on
her way to becoming the next Rally Queen!
